"Once, before the New Dawn, humanity entered a time of peace and prosperity.
Advances in technology brought longer lifespans, fewer diseases and the
capability to explore the stars. But soon we became careless. Science moved too
quickly and without moral boundaries. Technology took away that which made us
human. We created our own demons - a malevolent force that brought a plague
upon all humanity. That was long ago, but that evil will one day return - for
humanity cannot run from itself."
-Opening passage, Tome
of the Conclave

In a distant region of the galaxy conflict has broken out over a newly
discovered, underdeveloped alien species, the Nitorum. The
human government, known as the New Dawn, is providing them with assistance
in the form of resources and technology. But the Conclave,
a renegade society, known for its secretive but peaceful nature, has
begun attacking not only Nitorum convoys, but any humans that stand in their
way.
This conflict continues to grow more intense as humanity begins to suffer from
other strange phenomenon. People begin dying from a mysterious virus. Its
abnormal spread, and the targeted way in which it kills, leads scientists to
believe that it is not natural; that it was somehow engineered. Meanwhile, the
nearby Tyllurian nebula begins to expand. Ships sent inside to investigate
never return.
Remnants of the Stars begins as the player investigates the Nitorum - Conclave
conflict. Discover its cause as well as the insidious connections between it,
the spread of the virus, and the expansion of the Tyllurian nebula.
